Heart attack warning signs

Everyone should learn the 5 heart attack warning signs and symptoms. These are:

  1. Pain or discomfort in the chest
  2. Discomfort in the jaw, neck, back or stomach
  3. Discomfort in the arms or shoulders
  4. Shortness of breath
  5. A feeling of weakness, lightheadedness or nausea

The most common heart attack symptom is chest pain or discomfort. But women are somewhat more likely than men to experience some of the other common symptoms, particularly shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting, and back or jaw pain.

If you feel heart attack symptoms, do not delay. Community Heart and Vascular Hospital has one of Indiana’s only 24-hour cardiac emergency rooms with a cardiologist on-site 24 hours every day. Remember, minutes matter!
